On October 5 and 6, 2012, the Ozark Folk Center’s Heritage Herb Garden is excited to have Holly Shimizu presenting at the Herb Harvest Fall Festival. Ms. Shimizu hosted The Victory Garden for 12 years and returns to the show frequently. She is a horticultural visionary, serving as the Executive Director of the U.S. Botanic Garden and was formerly the Managing Director of the famous Lewis Ginter Garden in Richmond, Virginia. Furthermore, Holly Shimizu is a real gardener, and a warm human being who is delighted to be visiting the Ozarks.
Additionally, Suzanne Runsick, Dot Sanders and Beth Peck Cooper of the Ozark Unit of The Herb Society of America are presenting “Renovating the Folk Kids’ Mountain Garden” on Friday, October 5th. The Herb Society of America is dedicated to promoting the knowledge, use and delight of herbs through educational programs, research, and sharing the experience of its members with the community.
The Ozark Folk Center is bringing all of these energetic, passionate herbal authorities right here, to the Heritage Herb Garden gate. Why not seize this opportunity to feed your mind, body and spirit? The herbal lore, gardening and cuisine of North Africa is the focus of Thursday night’s Sumptuous Herb Harvest Supper and Saturday during the Herb Harvest Fall Festival. Friday is dedicated to gardening topics, like, fighting weeds, designing a children’s garden, using fragrant plants in your landscape and preserving your harvest.
