Even the thought of a one night stay for a bed & breakfast first timer can bring about all sorts of anxiety issues and physical reactions. But don’t dismay, you will probably find that all your fears have been grossly exaggerated. For starters, here at Ozark Country Inn you won’t have to share a bathroom with the strangers in the room next to yours and you won’t have to fight with me as to which game we are going to watch on TV because every room has their own bath and TV. So it does not matter if you are a Razorback fan or a supporter of one of those other teams.
I have even heard stories about the time someone came into to a Bed & Breakfast only to find the owner sitting in the living room in his PJs watching TV. I guarantee that won’t happen here! I am just as shy as you probably are in this area. At most all Inn’s you have all the privacy you want but also have the opportunity to meet other people while sitting on the porch or at breakfast if you like. Your room is quiet and free of interruptions; it even has a lock on the door. You won’t be forced to interact with the other guest, nor will you have to sit down with us and look through all our family pictures unless you want to (and we do have a bunch of family albums-Ha). You might even go through your whole stay without seeing another guest except during breakfast. We are very concerned with your privacy and will do anything and everything to respect it.
We have an owner’s quarters here at the Inn and live on the premises. Just because you don’t see us doesn’t mean we are in hiding. Sometimes we are out shopping for breakfast food, walking around the square, or maybe just relaxing in our quarters watching TV. We are never really too far from the Inn and you can call us on the house number at any time to reach us for any reason. Sometimes I even call my wife on the house phone because I get tired of walking around the Inn trying to find her. The house number goes to our cell phones and unless we are in the caves at Blanchard Springs Caverns (no service) we will answer, cell reception around town is good.
Now how about breakfast? It is true we do serve breakfast family style around a couple of tables so guests who don’t know each other may sit together at the same table the same way they do on cruise ships. But in all the times I have seen this I have never noticed it to be an issue. In fact, most times everyone comes away from breakfast as friends and most people don’t force conversation when it becomes apparent that you’d rather enjoy a conversation free breakfast. Oh, and by the way, you will find our breakfast to be complete of all the acceptable major food groups, i.e. bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, taters, eggs, pancakes/waffles or French toast, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. You won’t go away hungry and probably might even skip lunch.
When you consider breakfast in the cost of a nights stay at a bed & breakfast it isn’t any more expensive than a stay at a hotel. Plus if you become confined to the Inn for any reason such as weather or illness you won’t go crazy sitting in a 12 x 20 room as you would in a hotel. We have a large dining area, large living area, large wraparound porch on both levels, and plenty of books, music, games, and even instruments which you are welcome to play. In other words; you will feel like you are at home instead of stuck in a motel room.
We consider you as our guests not our children. We don’t have any strange rules for you to follow like picking up your clothes or nightly curfews. We leave the front door open and will not wait up for you to come home or even lay awake in bed worrying till you get home. Enjoy your stay here in Mountain View for as long as you like and as late as you like. All we ask is that you are considerate of the other guests.
There is a first time for everything and maybe this is the time to try your first bed & breakfast? Let us know if that is the case and we will help you through your first time jitters. You will be surprised-I was!
