The official definition of a bed and breakfast is “an overnight lodging establishment that provides at least one meal per day at no charge other than a charge for overnight lodging.” This could be a small hotel or a Victorian-style historic home. Some are very unique, such as an old school building or an abandoned missile silo!

A hotel or motel room is basically a one-size-fits-all type of lodging. While consistent, it’s pretty boring. Breakfast may be self-serve continental, microwave packages, or there might be a restaurant where breakfast is an extra charge.
At the Ozark Country Inn, each room has its own character. Even though extensive remodeling has occurred in the last century (providing an in-room bathroom for every guest room), the rooms still retain their historic charm.
A full homemade breakfast is included in the room rate and served hot and ready to eat.

Unfortunately, no. We do not have a room in the main building that is suitable for pets.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to fully comply with ADA standards in our historic building. However, the wheelchair ramp on the side of our front porch is within ADA standards. The two ground floor rooms are located right next to the ramp. Many guests with limited mobility have been able to be comfortable in either of the two ground floor rooms.

The Ozark Country Inn is located at 219 South Peabody in Mountain View, Arkansas.  The Inn is located in the heart of Mountain View.

The wrap-around front porch is a favorite area that our guests frequent. There are plenty of rocking chairs so guests can sit, relax, talk to other guests, or listen to the music on the Court Square. Sometimes, musicians will have a jam on the porch.
The parlor has a comfortable sofa and two comfortable lounge chairs. A game closet full of board and card games for family fun. Several instruments hang on the wall ready for playing.
The dining room seats 16 comfortable and is a favorite spot for conversations and game playing. Sodas and bottled water are available in the fridge. Complementary snacks are on the buffet, including homemade cookies or sweet breads.

Not at all. Every room in the Ozark Country Inn has its own private, in-room bathrooms. Every room is equipped with a walk-in shower, pedestal sink, and a chair-height toilet. Plush towels, hand towels, and wash clothes are provided along with conditioning shampoo and scented glycerin soap.

The OCI has 6 rooms total.

The stairways has 12 steps. There are handrails on either side of the stairway. The stairs are carpeted and are relatively easy to navigate.

The Queen rooms and both ground floor rooms each can sleep two guests. The Dogwood (upstairs King Suite) and Azalea (upstairs queen suite) can each sleep 3 guests. The Elderberry (upstairs King Suite) can sleep 4 guests.

The Queen rooms are the least expensive. They have a bed and a full bathroom plus a small television.
The suites have a sitting room apart from the bedroom.  Suites also have mini-fridges and larger televisions.

Yes, all rooms have locking doors with deadbolts and corresponding keys for guests. Although we have never had a reported theft, it is recommended that guests lock their doors when leaving the room and at night.

Fortunately, we live in a wonderful town that has little crime to speak of. Our front door locks mainly to keep non-guests from walking in and touring the building without the innkeeper knowing. It also helps our guests feel more secure.

We fix a homemade breakfast every morning with many dishes made from scratch. Each breakfast starts with a fruit course, such as a strawberry cheesecake fruit salad or frosted fruity yogurt squares.
Typically Saturday morning breakfast is buttermilk biscuits with homemade sausage gravy, homemade chocolate gravy, bacon, and a cheesy egg bake.
Sunday is pancake day, with Scottish style pancakes (silver dollar size, a little fluffier than usual), link sausage, Fireman’s casserole, and homemade peanut butter and blueberry syrups.
Other days may see a French Toast Bake, Baked French eggs, Tater Tot Casserole, fried potatoes (with Shelley’s special potato seasoning), and other gourmet breakfast dishes.

Breakfast is served at one time for all guests, usually 8:30 am. A fruit course is served first with the entrée and side dishes following. If there are fewer guests, we will serve the fruit course and breakfast already plated directly to the guest. For larger crowds, breakfast is served buffet style with the fruit course being served individually first.

We have become quite creative in serving delicious breakfast that comply with most dietary restrictions. Please let us know ahead of time so we can be fully prepared.

Absolutely. Just let us know when you check in that you’ll need breakfast at an early time. We can fix something early or even prepare a something to-go.
Also let us know if you’ll be sleeping late so we can put some breakfast aside for you.

There are several restaurants within walking distance.
Mi Pueblito is a local Mexican restaurant about 30 yards south of the Wildflower.
Kinfolks BBQ is in the red building directly west of the Wildflower. They serve good BBQ and burgers.
The Music Box is a small coffee and ice cream shack next to the MV Music Store, across the street from Kinfolks.
PJ’s Rainbow Cafe is located on the south side of Main street on the west end of the square. They are a small town diner known for their chicken fried steak and homemade pies. Bring cash as they don’t take credit cards.
Bushel and a Peck are located in the Urban Forge at the southwest corner of the Court Square. They have modern fare as well as brick oven pizza.
Pizza Inn is also within walking distance to the east. They have a large pizza buffet and salad bar.

There are several nice restaurants just a short drive from the Wildflower.
Anglers Restaurant is located 4 miles north on Hwy 5/14 right on the White River. They have good American food, pasta, steaks, etc. If you’re in the mood for alcohol, they are the only place you can get it.
JoJo’s Catfish Wharf is one mile further. They are known for their catfish, clams, scallops, and shrimp, but especially for their delicious hushpuppies.
Los Locos is a step up Mexican restaurant located next to the Dollar Tree on Sylamore Avenue.
The Skillet is located at the Ozark Folk Center state park. They offer home cooking in a nicely accommodated dining area.
For fine dining (without dress requirements) at a beautiful location, Whispering Woods Grill is a fabulous place. Located in Jordan (about a 45 minute drive) the restaurant overlooks lake Norfork and serves chef-prepared meals.

There are many great little shops around the Court Square. From the Mountain View Music Store, to the Dude Ranch boot store, to t-shirts and gifts at View Life, there are plenty of places to pick up a gift item or something for yourself! Don’t miss the Rainbow antique mall and the women’s’ clothing stores!

Mountain View is not only know for music but also for hand made crafts. The Arkansas Craft School is located at the corner of main and Peabody.
The Handcrafted Art Museum is located next to the craft school. It displays some amazing handcrafted art from some of Mountain View’s most talented artisans.

The Ozark Folk Center is the large state park craft village located about 3/4 of a mile north of the Wildflower. Friendly handcraft artisans display their wares and demonstrated old time techniques. Ozark Mountain Music is performed throughout the day at the black smith stage.
Blanchard Springs Caverns is a wonderful cave system. They are currently closed due to COVID, but you can still visit Mirror Lake and the springs waterfall.
There are tons of hiking trails and overlooks around the Mountain View area. Consult the state park ranger station for maps.
Loco Ropes is a wonderful tree top ropes course and zip line. They are in the same parking lot as the Ozark Folk Center.
The Sylamore Mountain Bike trails are nationally known for the amazing experience.
